Rock-a-Bye Baby

England c. 1765

It is a variant of the English satirical ballad Lilliburero. The origin is unsure though there are many theories.

Common Version lyrics (there are lots of versions since it has been around so long)

Rock-a-Bye Baby on the treetop

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock

When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall

And down will come baby, cradle and all.
